Involvement Video (See Below)
Hello St Andrews!
Your next president has some tough tasks ahead of them. Redevelopment is occurring in awkward phases that are going to affect societies, events, a recycling center, and how the Union runs itself. Accommodation prices continue to rise to even more unacceptable levels. International Students are no longer allowed to stay in the United Kingdom after they graduate with a well awarded degree.
Some of these issues are national, some of them are within our Union, and some of them are Fife Issues (Fissues if you will). What brings them all together is that WE can do something about them, but we have to care, and we have to get involved.
What is involvement? It is not 100 new Facebook groups, or wednesday memos that many of us skim over in Saintmail. Involvement is me coming out to your party, your gig, your campaign, your hall. It is me listening to what you need, and it is myself and the other Sabbs truly dropping bullshit and pretense to represent you: not just the institution of the union but all of us students.
I'm not going to annoy you with flyers this campaign, and I urge all other candidates to keep the trauma that is walking into the library during election week to a minimum. Because that isn't involvement, that isn't presenting the issues, and it certainly isn't student democracy. It is spam and a popularity contest.
I am running for you, I hope to see you next year.
